A domestic dispute over Christmas festival shopping turned tragic in Trichy, resulting in the death of a 25-year-old woman at her residence on Saturday. The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community.
Details of the Tragic Incident
The deceased has been identified as Don Boran, a resident of Venkateshwara Nagar in the M K Kottai area. She was married to 35-year-old P Pushparaj, and the couple had two children—a daughter and a son. According to police reports, the tragic sequence of events began when Boran expressed a desire to her husband to go out for Christmas shopping. Pushparaj, however, refused the request and reportedly asked his wife to plan the purchases for another day.
This refusal led to a heated argument between the couple. Following the quarrel, Boran stopped communicating with her husband altogether. Meanwhile, Pushparaj left their home to go to Manapparai to play cricket on Saturday. He returned in the afternoon to find the house locked from inside.
Discovery and Police Response
When his wife did not respond or open the door, Pushparaj and other family members were forced to break open the lock. Inside, they discovered the horrifying scene of Boran hanging. The Golden Rock police were immediately alerted and rushed to the spot.
Police officials have registered a case and are conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death. The body has been sent for autopsy to the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital (MGMGH) to determine the exact cause of death.
