McDonald's in Vijayawada raided for stale corn

Vijayawada: The food safety authorities of the NTR district conducted a raid at the McDonald's outlet in Gurunanak Colony on Friday and seized stale corn that was being served to customers.

Details of the Raid

NTR district assistant food controller B Srinivas stated that the action was taken following a customer complaint about being served stale corn. Food safety personnel seized approximately eight cups of stale corn and subsequently destroyed the seized items.

Management's Actions

Srinivas noted that the McDonald's management had discarded the eight corn cups that had been served to customers before the food safety team arrived at the outlet. However, based on witness accounts, the food safety personnel recovered the stale corn cups from the bins.

Legal Action

A case has been registered under section 53 of the FSSAI Act for violations against the outlet, which will be heard before the joint collector court.
