Ludhiana Health Department Intensifies Drive Against Food Adulteration

The health department in Ludhiana has announced a significant escalation in its efforts to combat food adulteration across the district. In a decisive move to ensure public safety, officials have launched a comprehensive Food Safety Van campaign scheduled to run from April 7 to April 21. This initiative is designed to provide citizens with accessible food testing and promote widespread awareness about hygienic practices.

Campaign Focuses on Public Safety and Education

Civil Surgeon Dr. Ashish Chawla provided detailed insights into the campaign, emphasizing that its core objective is public safety and awareness. "There is absolutely no need for panic," Dr. Chawla stated. "This drive is purely aimed at educating our citizens and offering them convenient, on-the-spot food testing facilities to ensure the food they consume is safe."

The department's specially equipped Food Safety Van is at the heart of this initiative. It features modern preliminary testing equipment, allowing residents to have their food samples analyzed for a nominal fee of just Rs 50. Beyond testing, the campaign will actively engage with local food vendors to educate them on essential standards.
