Kalaburagi Water Crisis Resolved After Contaminated Supply Halted

The Kalaburagi City Corporation (KCC) has successfully addressed a critical water contamination issue that plagued the city for over a week. The contaminated water supply was stopped immediately after officials became aware of the problem, which originated from faults in the purification plant machinery at the Bhima barrage.

Technical Faults Lead to Water Supply Disruption

According to KCC mayor Varsha Jaane and corporation commissioner Avinash Shinde, the water supply from the Bhima barrage to Kalaburagi city was contaminated due to technical problems in the purification plant. The machines responsible for water purification broke down, leading to inadequate treatment of the water supply for the past week. Aware of the health risks, the corporation took swift action to halt the contaminated supply.

Immediate Measures and Restoration Efforts

Addressing a joint press conference on Sunday, commissioner Avinash Shinde explained that the damaged purification machines were not available locally. To resolve the crisis, new machines were brought from Pune in Maharashtra and Gujarat and promptly installed. This strategic move enabled the restoration of fresh water supply to the city starting Sunday.

Shinde emphasized that with the installation of these high-quality machines, residents can now expect decent and safe drinking water. He assured the public that the corporation is committed to preventing such incidents in the future.

Alternative Arrangements and Ongoing Projects

During the week-long water supply disruption, the corporation arranged for tanker water supply in most affected areas to mitigate the inconvenience faced by residents. Commissioner Shinde highlighted that the KCC is working diligently to ensure adequate water availability, so citizens do not suffer in the coming days.

In addition to the purification plant repairs, the corporation is actively engaged in several water infrastructure projects. These include the installation of clean water units, repair of existing tube wells, and drilling of new tube wells to enhance the city's water supply system.

Commitment to Public Health and Safety

The Kalaburagi City Corporation's proactive response underscores its dedication to public health and safety. By stopping the contaminated water supply and swiftly installing new purification machines, officials have demonstrated a strong commitment to resolving critical infrastructure issues. Residents can now look forward to a reliable and safe water supply as the corporation continues its efforts to improve water management systems.
