CM Yogi Adityanath Reviews PWD Projects in Varanasi
Varanasi: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath conducted a review of ongoing projects by the Public Works Department (PWD) on Friday, emphasizing the need for war-footed execution, timely completion, and adherence to quality standards. He directed officials to prioritize projects that should be finished before the onset of the rainy season.
Details of Ongoing Projects
During the review, officials informed the CM that 2,630 projects worth Rs 7,175 crore are underway in the Varanasi region. Of these, 687 projects have been completed, while work on 542 projects has reached 90% completion. In Varanasi district alone, 421 projects worth Rs 3,223 crore are in progress.
The CM also sought updates on PWD works from the previous year and instructed that the work plan for the current financial year 2026-27 be made available immediately. He stressed that while preparing the work plan, fund sanctions and tender processes should proceed simultaneously to avoid delays.
Instructions for Efficient Execution
Yogi Adityanath directed the commissioner and district magistrate to hold regular meetings and reviews at their respective levels to accelerate work progress. He emphasized that construction progress must be ensured at all costs. For road repairs, the CM ordered a survey first, followed by coordination with the municipal corporation for urban area repairs. Proposals from public representatives must be included, and work should commence only after all necessary resources are arranged to guarantee timely completion and public benefit.
Progress on Integrated Court Complex
The CM also reviewed the integrated court complex to be built in Chandauli. PWD engineers reported that 18% of the work has been completed. Principal Secretary of PWD, Ajay Chauhan, provided detailed information on the works in the Varanasi region.
