In a shocking incident at the Civil Hospital in Hisar, the body of a woman who died during childbirth was reportedly damaged by rats in the mortuary. The family of the deceased staged a protest on Sunday morning after noticing marks on her body.
Incident Details
The incident came to light when relatives of 25-year-old Komal arrived for the post-mortem examination and observed rats moving near the deep freezer inside the mortuary. When the body was taken out, a large cut mark was visible on her forehead, and the skin appeared to have been gnawed. With rodents roaming freely in the room, it was evident that rats had bitten parts of her body, as she had no injury marks prior to death.
Family's Account
According to Komal's family, she had been admitted to a government hospital in Hansi for delivery and underwent a C-section there on Saturday. Due to complications caused by excessive bleeding, doctors at Hansi Civil Hospital referred her to the Civil Hospital in Hisar. However, her condition deteriorated while traveling from Hansi to Hisar, and she breathed her last on the way. At Hisar Civil Hospital, doctors declared her dead on arrival and placed the body in the mortuary for post-mortem on Sunday.
Official Response
Chief Medical Officer Dr. Sapna Gahlaut confirmed that an inquiry has been ordered into the incident. The hospital administration is investigating the matter, and steps are being taken to prevent such occurrences in the future.
Protest by Family
The family members, outraged by the condition of the body, protested outside the hospital demanding action against those responsible for the negligence. They alleged that the hospital staff failed to ensure proper safety and hygiene in the mortuary, leading to the desecration of the body.
This incident has raised serious questions about the maintenance of mortuary facilities in government hospitals and the lack of basic sanitation measures. The family has urged authorities to take strict action and ensure that such incidents do not happen again.
