A court in Palakkad has sentenced two youths to two years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 2 lakh each in a ganja possession case. The second additional sessions judge D Sudheer pronounced the verdict against Akhil Saji, 32, and Askar Latheef, 28, both natives of Kodikulam near Thodupuzha in Idukki district.
Details of the Case
The accused were found guilty of possessing three kilograms of ganja. The court directed that the duo would have to undergo an additional one year of imprisonment each if they fail to pay the fine. According to the prosecution, the duo was arrested by the excise special squad on May 3, 2018, from Palakkad Junction railway station. The final report in the case was filed by excise assistant commissioner B Venugopal.
