Rajasthan Anganwadi Workers Get 10-Day Summer Leave After Targets

Jaipur: Anganwadi workers across Rajasthan will now be eligible for a 10-day summer vacation in June, provided they have successfully completed their monthly targets. This new directive comes from the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) department, which has issued an order outlining the conditions for availing this leave.

Conditions for Leave

According to officials, the Union government has made it mandatory for anganwadi centers to distribute take-home rations and utilize the facial recognition system for various beneficiary services. Workers who achieve these targets for the month of June will be permitted to take leave. The order, released on Monday, states: "If anganwadi workers and helpers wish to avail the 10-day summer vacation between June 1 and June 30, such leave should be sanctioned only after 100% distribution of take-home rations for June has been completed through the facial recognition system on the Poshan Tracker."

Existing Leave Provisions

Chhotelal Bunkar, national coordinator of the All India Anganwadi Employees Federation, noted that seasonal leave provisions already exist. "Anganwadi workers and helpers are entitled to leave during both summer and winter, provided it does not affect government work. They generally coordinate with each other to ensure the anganwadi centre remains functional during the leave period," he explained.

This new order aims to ensure that essential services are not disrupted while allowing workers to take well-deserved breaks. The use of technology, such as the facial recognition system, is intended to streamline the distribution process and ensure accountability.
