The makers of the upcoming Malayalam film, 'Balan – The Boy,' directed by Chidambaram, have unveiled the official trailer. On Friday, the team offered a glimpse into the film's world, which promises to be an emotional and suspense-filled journey.

The trailer begins with a young boy secretly sneaking into a vehicle. Soon after, the child's mother is introduced; she appears to be a woman hiding her and her child's true identity.
Mother Protecting Her Child
As the trailer progresses, it becomes evident that the mother and son are living on the run. The woman is shown using different aliases, including Mary Luca and Sherly. At one point, she introduces her son as Abhijeet Kumar. The trailer suggests that she carries a painful past and is doing everything possible to keep her child safe. A segment of the 2-minute 30-second video also reveals the young boy asking his mother if his grandmother will harm them. Simultaneously, police officers are seen searching for the pair. The reason behind the chase remains a mystery.
The trailer also drops a major clue about the boy's connection to a murder case. It hints that he could be a crucial witness or even a suspect. The trailer concludes with a striking image of the mother and son lying peacefully on a bed while she holds a gun in her hand.
Creators of 'Manjummel Boys' and 'Aavesham' Joining Hands
Interestingly, director Chidambaram is known for his 2024 thriller drama 'Manjummel Boys,' and the film also features Jithu Madhavan, director of 'Aavesham,' who played a key role in its making. 'Balan: The Boy' was screened at the Marché du Film section of the 2026 Cannes Film Festival and reportedly received a positive response. The film is scheduled to hit theatres on June 19.
