Actor Manjari Fadnis, known for her role in the film 'Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na,' has shared an emotional video alleging that some individuals in her housing society brutally killed a community dog named Mikey. The actor broke down while recounting the incident, stating that Mikey had been a part of the society since 2019 or 2020 after being abandoned by his family.
The Incident
According to a report by India Today, Fadnis said residents began searching for Mikey after he went missing. They created posters, distributed them in the area, and spoke to security guards and others to locate him. In the video, Fadnis expressed, "I wish I never needed to make this video, but I think it's really important." She described Mikey as "a really sweet dog" and emphasized the residents' persistent efforts to find him.
Fadnis alleged that someone from the society later confessed that Mikey was sleeping quietly near a basement area when he was struck on the head with a stick or an iron rod. The attack left him disoriented. She further alleged that he was dragged to a staircase area between B1 and the lobby, beaten further, placed inside a sack, and thrown into an empty area behind the building. The actor expressed uncertainty about whether Mikey survived and mentioned that residents were still trying to locate his body.
Call for Stronger Animal Cruelty Laws
In her emotional post, Fadnis asserted that people with "criminal minds" feel emboldened to take illegal actions against dogs they dislike, even when the animals are harmless and cared for by residents. Recalling Mikey's gentle nature, she said he was a long-haired dog whom residents often took home to bathe, groom, and detangle. She fondly remembered how he would run around happily after his bath. Concluding that part of the video, she said, "He's gone."
Fadnis called for stronger animal cruelty laws and expressed gratitude to Xavier Bernard Santiago, Sanket Kadam, and others who supported the fight for justice. She vowed to continue fighting for Mikey.

India Today reported that celebrities including Bhumi Pednekar, Vedika, and Dimple Hayathi expressed shock and condolences over the incident. Fadnis was last seen in 'Pune Highway,' which was released in 2025.
