A Border Security Force (BSF) constable lost his life after being struck by an unidentified vehicle while crossing the road near the BSF campus in Bhondsi late Monday night. The deceased, identified as Ravinder, was a constable with the 31 Battalion BSF and a resident of Najafgarh in southwest Delhi.
Incident Details
According to a complaint filed by the commandant of the 95 Battalion BSF with the Bhondsi police, Ravinder had reported to the battalion's transit camp on May 11 after completing 28 days of earned leave. He was scheduled to travel to Srinagar via air courier service from Delhi the following day.
The accident occurred around 10:40 PM on May 12, approximately 200 meters from Gate No. 1 of the BSF campus, as Ravinder was crossing the road. A passerby alerted the gate sentry, prompting BSF personnel, including the quick reaction team, officers, medical staff, and an ambulance, to rush to the scene.
Response and Investigation
By the time BSF personnel arrived, local police had already reached the site. BSF Medical Officer Sushil Bishnoi examined Ravinder and found no pulse or blood pressure. The constable had sustained severe chest and head injuries.
Ravinder was transported to Civil Hospital in Sector 10, where doctors declared him brought dead. Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against an unidentified driver under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and launched an investigation into the hit-and-run incident.
