Barun Sobti and Pashmeen Manchanda: A Love Story That Began in School
Barun Sobti, beloved for his role as Arnav Singh Raizada in 'Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon', found his real-life love story long before fame. He met Pashmeen Manchanda in a school corridor when she transferred to a co-ed school in 9th grade. According to Network 18, Pashmeen was one of the most popular girls, and Barun was an admirer who wrote poems to win her over. His persistence turned into a lasting friendship that eventually blossomed into love.
Five Years of Long-Distance Love Across Continents
After school, Pashmeen moved to Australia for studies and work, while Barun stayed in Mumbai to pursue acting. On Farah Khan's cooking vlog, Pashmeen recalled their long-distance relationship: 'We've also had a long-distance relationship. So I was away. I was in Australia. I'd gone there to study. And I was working and everything. And he had gotten his first show then. So he was in Bombay.' She added that Barun's first show, 'Baat Hamari Pakki Hai' on Sony, did well. The couple maintained their relationship across continents for nearly five years, with Pashmeen returning to India just a month before their wedding.
A Quiet Wedding and Growing Family
Barun and Pashmeen married on December 12, 2010, in an intimate gurudwara ceremony with close friends and family. They have two children: daughter Sifat (born June 28, 2019) and son Meer (born April 25, 2023). Pashmeen described their family on Farah Khan's vlog: 'We have two kids, we have a daughter, she's almost 7. We have a son who's 3.' Barun told Hauterrfly about fatherhood: 'I'm pretty hands-on with my kids and about maintaining balance. If I am at home, I like to be present as a father.'
Still in Love After All These Years
Barun continues to speak warmly of Pashmeen. In an interview with Free Press Journal, he said, 'I love my wife. I have been in love with my wife since my school days.' He added, 'We wanted to get married and then travel the world and have children. It is exactly what it has turned out to be.' This rare admission highlights the enduring strength of their relationship.
