Filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani has finally broken his silence on the much-anticipated sequel to the iconic film '3 Idiots', confirming that the project is indeed in development. The director revealed that the script is still being worked on and dismissed any rumors about additions to the cast.

In a conversation with India Today, Hirani shed light on the current status of the sequel. He stated, 'Aamir had read a very early draft; the overall idea is there. I don't know... he must have been doing some media interviews [and spoken about it]. But we are still in the process of writing because we are also very excited about it.' This confirms that while groundwork has been laid, the script is still a work in progress.

Hirani also addressed the swirling rumors about a possible new character and the supposed title '4 Idiots'. With a laugh, he set the record straight, saying, 'Mujhe bhi pata laga hai ki iska naam "4th Idiots" hai. Woh maine nahi rakha, woh kahin media ne rakhi hai (I also got to know that it's being titled 4 Idiots. I have not titled it; the media has only created this). Honestly, there's no 4th idiot, it's 3 Idiots only, it's 20 years later [from where we ended].' This puts to rest any speculation about a fourth lead character.
Aamir Khan Had Earlier Hinted at '3 Idiots' Sequel
The sequel has been making headlines ever since discussions about continuing the beloved 2009 film first emerged. Aamir Khan had earlier revealed that Hirani approached him with an idea for the story, and that everyone involved was excited about bringing their favorite characters back to the big screen.
