The much-anticipated trailer for Mardaani 3 has finally dropped, marking the powerful return of Rani Mukerji as the indomitable police officer, Shivani Shivaji Roy. The preview sets the stage for a gritty, high-stakes battle against a sinister child trafficking network, promising a hard-hitting cinematic experience.
A Sinister New Adversary Emerges
In this third instalment of the successful franchise, Shivani Shivaji Roy has joined the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Her mission begins with investigating the kidnapping of two young girls. However, the case rapidly escalates as she uncovers a vast and brutal human trafficking operation. The ring is masterminded by a chilling antagonist known as Amma, portrayed by Mallika Prasad.
The trailer reveals disturbing details of Amma's operation. She is shown purchasing girls from across the country for Rs 10 lakh each and injecting them with a substance that induces a deep sleep. The narrative takes a darker turn as Shivani discovers the trafficking is linked to a larger, more vicious beggar mafia. A harrowing scene shows a rescued girl coughing up blood in a hospital, highlighting the extreme brutality faced by the victims.
Shivani Roy's Uncompromising Vow
True to her character, Rani Mukerji's Shivani delivers a defining line while confronting Amma. She declares, "I am a cop who won't take cuts from people like you but will cut you." This powerful dialogue underscores her zero-tolerance stance towards crime and corruption. The subsequent scenes are a tense race against time, with Shivani determined to rescue multiple girls trapped in the horrifying racket.
The film's ensemble cast includes Janaki Bodiwala, known for her role in 'Shaitaan', in a pivotal part. Mardaani 3 has been penned by writer Aayush Gupta of 'The Railway Men' fame and is directed by Abhiraj Minawala. The project is produced by Aditya Chopra under the Yash Raj Films banner.
Continuing the Franchise's Socially Relevant Legacy
The Mardaani series has consistently shed light on the grim underbelly of society. While the first film exposed human trafficking and the second delved into the psyche of a serial rapist, Mardaani 3 tackles another brutal reality—the interconnected worlds of child trafficking and organized begging mafias.
The official Yash Raj Films Twitter handle released the trailer with the caption: "It is a race against time & there will be no mercy. Shivani Shivaji Roy is back to rescue girls who go missing without a trace." The studio confirmed the film's theatrical release date. Mardaani 3 is scheduled to hit cinemas worldwide on January 30, 2026.
