Kabir Bedi Makes a Comeback to Malayalam Cinema with 'Koragajja'
Renowned Bollywood actor Kabir Bedi, celebrated for his role in 'Anarkali', is set to grace Malayalam cinema once again. He has joined the cast of the upcoming Malayalam film titled 'Koragajja', which is being directed by Sudheer Attavar. This exciting announcement was made during a press conference held in Kochi, where the director was accompanied by Kannada actress Bhavya, producer Trivikram Safalya, and executive producer.
Film Details and Release Plans
The production team has confirmed that 'Koragajja' is scheduled to hit theatres in February. Interestingly, the makers have highlighted that the story of the film bears similarities to the tale of Muthappan in Kerala, a connection expected to resonate deeply with Malayalam audiences and enhance the film's relatability.
Kabir Bedi's Affection for Kerala and Malayalam Cinema
During the press meet, Kabir Bedi expressed his profound admiration for Kerala, stating that he holds a great fondness for the state and its culinary delights. The veteran actor also praised Malayalam cinema, noting that nearly 25 percent of National Awards are garnered by Malayalam films, underscoring the industry's excellence.
In the film, Kabir Bedi portrays the character of Udyavara Arasu Raja, a royal figure with significant roots in the narrative. Reflecting on his previous involvement in Malayalam cinema, Bedi had earlier shared with Deccan Chronicle, "I haven’t seen many Malayalam films, but Chemmeen was a movie that influenced me a lot. Later, I saw Adoor Gopalakrishnan, Aravindan and Shaji films and was impressed. So when Rajeev Nair, the producer of Anarkali, approached me for the character, I readily agreed."
Historical and Spiritual Narrative of 'Koragajja'
'Koragajja' delves into the story of the deity Koragajja, a principal figure worshipped in the Daivaradhana tradition of the Karavali region in Karnataka, also known as Tulu Nadu. The plot is rich with emotional and spiritual elements, set approximately 800 years ago, offering a glimpse into ancient faith and history.
This large-scale production is set to be released in six languages: Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Tulu, aiming to reach a diverse audience across India.

The film's music and background score are composed by the talented Gopi Sundar, featuring an impressive collection of 31 songs. The audio rights have been secured by C Music, while the epic is produced by Trivikram Safalya under the banner of Trivikram Cinemas.
