The Directorate of Students' Welfare (DSW) at Maharaja Sayajirao University (MSU) in Vadodara has unveiled a significant scholarship initiative for the upcoming academic session. A total of Rs 95.12 lakh will be distributed to 1,789 students for the 2025-26 year, providing crucial financial support to those from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

Eligibility and Beneficiary Breakdown

According to the official financial report, 2,604 students initially registered for the scholarships this year. After a thorough scrutiny process, 1,789 applicants were deemed eligible for the financial assistance. The beneficiaries are categorized as follows:

  • 1,306 students are enrolled in regular grant-in-aid (GIA) courses.
  • 483 students are pursuing self-financed or high payment programmes (HPP).

University officials have confirmed that the disbursement process is currently underway and is expected to be finalized by the end of this month. Once completed, the scholarship funds will be directly deposited into the students' bank accounts.

Special Support for Students in Difficult Circumstances

The scholarship scheme includes provisions for students facing particularly challenging situations. Among this year's recipients:

  • 77 students have lost either their father or mother.
  • One student is physically handicapped.

In these cases, MSU provides enhanced financial assistance to help alleviate their burdens.

Financial Assistance Structure

The scholarship program offers different levels of support based on the type of course:

  1. Students in regular GIA courses receive 100% reimbursement of their tuition fees.
  2. Those enrolled in HPP courses are granted 25% of their fees or a maximum of Rs 10,000.
