The Ministry of Education in Saudi Arabia has officially unveiled the comprehensive schedule for the second semester of the current academic year. This detailed plan outlines the number of instructional days, special arrangements for Ramadan, official holidays, and the precise start dates for summer vacation throughout the Kingdom.
Semester Duration and School Days
The ministry confirmed that the second semester will run until Thursday, Muharram 10, 1448 AH. Across all regions of Saudi Arabia, a total of 92 actual school days are scheduled for this period.
Some regions will follow special arrangements as specified in the official school calendar. In these areas, the semester will extend over 19 weeks of study. The number of school days is reduced to accommodate the spiritual significance of Ramadan.
During the holy month of Ramadan, the ministry has approved 11 school days. This adjustment considers the fasting period and religious observances that are central to the month.
Breaks and Official Holidays
According to the ministry's announcement, the second semester schedule includes three separate breaks. These breaks total 28 days throughout the semester.
The academic calendar also features four official holidays:
- Founder's Day, which falls on the fifth of Ramadan, corresponding to February 22.
- Eid al-Fitr holiday, beginning at the end of the school day on Thursday, Ramadan 17.
- Eid al-Adha holiday, starting at the end of the school day on Thursday, the fourth of Dhu al-Hijjah, and lasting for ten days.
For education departments in Makkah, Madinah, Jeddah, and Taif, the Eid al-Adha holiday will begin earlier. It starts at the end of the school day on Thursday, Dhul Qadah 27.
Summer Vacation Dates
The ministry stated that summer vacation will commence at the end of the school day on Thursday, Muharram 10, 1448 AH.
However, for education departments in Makkah, Madinah, Jeddah, and Taif, the summer vacation will begin later. It starts at the end of the school day on Muharram 17, 1448 AH.
This detailed schedule ensures clarity for students, parents, and educational staff across Saudi Arabia. The ministry's planning accounts for both academic requirements and cultural observances throughout the semester.
