Nagpur Schools, University to Operate Normally Despite State Mourning Period
Nagpur Schools, University Function Normally Amid Mourning

Educational institutions across Nagpur city will maintain their regular operations, with Nagpur University examinations proceeding according to the pre-announced timetable, confirmed officials on Wednesday. This clarification emerged amidst widespread confusion following the Maharashtra state government's declaration of a three-day official mourning period and a one-day public holiday in response to the tragic demise of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in a plane crash.

Uncertainty Over Thursday Holiday Clarified

Significant uncertainty had prevailed regarding whether Thursday would also be designated as a holiday for educational establishments. However, Nagpur University authorities explicitly stated that they had not received any official directives concerning the suspension of classes or the postponement of scheduled examinations. In the absence of a formal notification from either the state government or the local district administration, the university administration made the decisive choice to continue with all academic activities as originally planned.

Schools Report Surge in Parental Queries

Parallel to the university's situation, numerous schools across Nagpur reported a substantial increase in inquiries from concerned parents and students seeking clarity on the holiday status. School managements revealed that they had awaited an official order until late into the evening, but no such directive was issued by state or district authorities. Consequently, all schools in the city will function according to their normal daily schedules without any interruption.

Examinations Conducted Without Disruption

Nagpur University officials further elaborated that examinations were successfully conducted as planned on Wednesday itself. By the time the official holiday announcement was made public, the morning-shift examinations had already concluded, and preparations for the afternoon examination session were fully underway. This timing left absolutely no scope for the cancellation or rescheduling of any academic evaluations on that day.

While academic and examination activities continued uninterrupted, Nagpur University did grant its administrative employees a half-day leave on Wednesday. This decision was made as routine administrative work naturally slowed down following the tragic incident and the subsequent mourning declaration.

Students Advised to Follow Existing Timetable

With no holiday officially declared for Thursday, students have been strongly advised to adhere strictly to the existing examination and class timetables. Both school and college administrations have emphasized that any future changes to the schedule will be communicated exclusively through an official government notification or an official university circular. The clear message from educational authorities is to continue with academic commitments unless a formal order dictates otherwise.
