Kolkata SSC Revises Teacher Recruitment Panel After Experience Marks Error
In a significant development, the Central School Service Commission (SSC) in Kolkata has revised its panel of shortlisted candidates for assistant teacher positions in state schools for classes 11 and 12, less than 24 hours after its initial release. The correction was made on Thursday, following the panel's publication on Wednesday, which had sparked allegations regarding the omission of experience marks for certain candidates.
Details of the Revision
The revised panel now includes the names of candidates whose experience marks, ranging from 4 to 6, were added after being previously marked as zero in that category. This adjustment came in response to concerns raised about lower ranks attributed to the exclusion of these marks. Initially, the list published on Wednesday spanned 1,173 pages, but with the inclusion of the experience marks, it expanded to 1,179 pages. Additionally, the waiting list increased from 1,060 pages to 1,061, reflecting the addition of more candidates.
Official Statement and Clarification
An SSC official addressed the situation, stating, "There was no change in the total scores. Due to a court order, some candidates' experience points were mistakenly not included in the panel, so they were corrected and added. But there was no change in the merit list." This clarification underscores that while the panel was updated to rectify the error, the overall merit rankings remained unaffected, ensuring fairness in the recruitment process.
Implications for Recruitment
The swift revision highlights the SSC's commitment to transparency and accuracy in the recruitment of 12,000 assistant teachers for state schools. By promptly addressing the oversight, the commission aims to maintain trust among candidates and stakeholders, reinforcing the integrity of the selection process for these crucial educational roles in Kolkata.
