Kerala CM's Mega Quiz Launches Monday: Rs 5 Lakh Top Prize for Students
Kerala CM Mega Quiz: Rs 5 Lakh Prize for Students

The Kerala government is gearing up to launch a massive statewide quiz competition this Monday, offering lucrative cash rewards to winning students. Titled 'Vijnana Yathra – Chief Minister’s Mega Quiz', the initiative aims to foster social awareness and deepen historical knowledge among the youth.

Prize Structure and Participant Categories

The competition features two main categories with attractive financial incentives. For school students from classes 8 to 12, the stakes are particularly high. The first prize winner will receive a whopping Rs 5,00,000. The second and third prize winners in this category will be awarded Rs 3,00,000 and Rs 2,00,000, respectively.

College and university students have a separate bracket. The top achiever here will win Rs 3,00,000, followed by Rs 2,00,000 for the runner-up and Rs 1,00,000 for the third-place finisher. Beyond cash, all winners will be honoured with merit certificates and special mementos.

Competition Format and Structure

The quiz will be a multi-tiered event. For school pupils, contests will be held at four levels: school, educational district, revenue district, and finally, the state. College students will compete across three stages: college, district, and state.

An interesting twist in the format is the shift from individual to team play. While the initial rounds for both categories will be individual, all subsequent rounds starting from the educational district level will be team-based. The government expects a massive turnout, with projections of around 5 lakh students participating across Kerala.

Engagement and Organisation

To make the event more dynamic and inclusive, the quiz will incorporate audience interaction from the district level onwards. Spectators will get chances to answer questions and win prizes, creating a festive and engaging atmosphere.

The mega event is a collaborative effort organised by the Information and Public Relations Department (IPRD) in partnership with the state's General Education and Higher Education Departments. Every participant, regardless of how far they progress, will receive an online certificate of participation, with district-level winners also getting mementos.

The quiz's content will focus on Kerala's rich history, its social progress, the influential renaissance movement, and contemporary developmental milestones, making it a comprehensive test of the state's journey.
