In a proud moment for Jharkhand, fifteen talented students from the state have earned the right to represent their region at the prestigious national-level INSPIRE Award–MANAK exhibition in New Delhi. This selection was the culmination of a rigorous state-level science exhibition and project competition held recently, which saw participation from young minds across all districts.
From Thousands to Fifteen: The Road to National Recognition
The journey to the national stage was highly competitive. For the 2024–25 academic session, authorities received a staggering 3,699 nominations under the INSPIRE Award–MANAK scheme across Jharkhand. Following a meticulous district-level scrutiny, 1,817 students were chosen to develop their projects, each receiving a grant of Rs 10,000. These young innovators then competed in district-level exhibitions, from which 134 top projects advanced to the state-level event held on Friday. Finally, a panel of experts shortlisted the 15 most outstanding innovators to carry Jharkhand's flag at the national platform.
A Spectrum of Ingenuity: Themes and Innovations on Display
The state exhibition was a vibrant showcase of creativity and scientific thinking, featuring 134 models spanning diverse fields. The projects presented practical solutions and conceptual ideas focused on critical areas like science and technology, environmental protection, social development, and sustainable living.
The shortlisted models covered an impressive range of application-oriented ideas. Notable innovations included:
- A school monitoring system designed to enhance safety and administrative efficiency.
- A foldable headresting stand built for comfort and better ergonomics.
- A suspension-loaded school bag engineered to reduce physical strain on students.
Health, Environment, and Tech: Student-Led Solutions for Real Problems
The exhibition highlighted several health-focused innovations, such as a smart baby monitoring band, integrated health monitoring platforms, and a smart baby bed prioritizing safety and hygiene. Environmental concerns were addressed through projects like an automobile precipitator, carbon capture technology, and a carbon reducer-cum-container for vehicle exhaust systems.
Technological ingenuity was on full display with models like a foot-operated computer mouse, a mini electricity consumption monitor, a power grid indicator, and a human-serving robot. Other unique entries included an 'easy plough' aiming to revolutionize farming and a 'spider war tank' concept.
Encouraging Free Thought: Advice from Education Leaders
Speaking at the state event, Rajesh Prasad, the Director of Secondary Education, offered crucial advice to parents and teachers. He urged them not to impose their own ambitions on children. “Students should be encouraged to explore their interests freely and pursue innovation with confidence,” Prasad emphasized.
District Education Officer Vinay Kumar motivated the participants to think beyond traditional career paths. He inspired them to strive to become job creators and entrepreneurs, rather than just job seekers, highlighting the importance of an innovative mindset for India's future.
The selection of these fifteen students marks a significant achievement for Jharkhand's educational landscape, demonstrating the state's growing potential in nurturing scientific temperament and innovative thinking among its youth.
