The Jharkhand Education Project Council (JEPC) successfully conducted a major state-level skill competition this Wednesday, bringing together talented students enrolled in vocational courses from across the state. The event was hosted at the Venture Skill India, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Skill Centre located in Kanke, Ranchi.
District-Wide Participation and Project Showcase
This competitive platform saw enthusiastic participation from students studying in Classes IX to XII, who had already proven their mettle at earlier school and district-level rounds. Representatives from all 24 districts of Jharkhand converged at the venue, turning the competition into a true melting pot of young talent and innovation.
A remarkable total of 264 distinct projects and working models were put on display by the students. These creations spanned across 11 different vocational trade courses that are currently being taught and implemented within the state's education system, highlighting the practical depth of the curriculum.
Empowering Beyond Employment: The Vision of Vocational Education
Speaking at the event, JEPC director Shashi Ranjan elaborated on the broader vision behind promoting skill-based learning. He emphasized that vocational education in Jharkhand is designed to go beyond the traditional goal of mere job placement.
"Our focus is not limited to employment alone," Ranjan stated. "This education is strategically preparing students for entrepreneurship, fostering innovation, and building self-reliance. It enables them to apply theoretical classroom knowledge to solve real-world challenges."
He further explained that the core objective of such initiatives is to encourage a larger number of students to choose skill-based education. This dual approach empowers them with self-employment opportunities that can run parallel to their formal academic studies, creating more versatile career pathways.

The competition culminated in the recognition of outstanding performers, with 33 students receiving awards at the prestigious state level. The winners across various trade categories are:
In the Multi Skill category, Ehsan Ansari from Khunti secured the first position.
The top honour in Beauty and Wellness was clinched by Neha Kumari from Dumka.
Chandan Kumar of Koderma emerged as the winner in the Automotive trade.
For Media and Entertainment, Mohammad Nawab Khan from West Singhbhum took first place.
Kumkum Kumari won in the Retail trade, while Arjit Singh from Jamtara claimed first prize in Electronics and Hardware.
The IT trade saw Deepesh Mahto from Seraikela secure the first prize.
In the Healthcare category, Kumkum Rani from East Singhbhum emerged victorious.
Seenu Kumari from Deoghar claimed the top honour in Apparel.
Khushi from Ramgarh secured first position in the Agriculture trade.
Finally, in the Tourism category, Mehar Parveen from Ranchi won the first prize.
The event stands as a significant testament to Jharkhand's committed push towards integrating practical, skill-oriented education into its mainstream academic framework, aiming to create a generation of job creators and problem-solvers.
