Haryana Board to Set Up Village Exam Centers for Class 10, 12 Students from 2026
Haryana Board: Village Exam Centers for Class 10, 12 from 2026

Haryana Board Revolutionizes Exam System with Village-Based Centers for 2026

In a significant move aimed at reducing student stress and improving accessibility, the Board of School Education Haryana (BSEH) has announced a transformative policy for board examinations starting next year. Students appearing for Class 10 and Class 12 board exams will no longer need to undertake long, exhausting journeys to distant examination centers.

Village-Centric Examination Approach

The board has decided to establish examination centers directly within villages that have 100 or more registered candidates. For villages with fewer candidates, centers will be set up in the closest possible locations to minimize travel distance. This initiative specifically targets rural areas where transportation facilities are often limited and commuting presents a substantial challenge for students.

BSEH chairperson Pawan Kumar Sharma emphasized that the primary objective is to alleviate the burden of travel, allowing students to focus entirely on their academic preparation. "The board wants students to concentrate on their studies without worrying about long and tiring journeys," Sharma stated. "This is particularly crucial in rural regions where inadequate transport infrastructure has historically created additional barriers for examination candidates."

Record Participation Expected with Enhanced Security Measures

For the 2026 annual examination session, BSEH anticipates unprecedented participation with more than 5.2 lakh students expected to appear—an increase of approximately 56,468 candidates compared to the previous year. The examination schedule has been finalized with Class 12 exams scheduled from February 25 to April 1, 2026, while Class 10 examinations will take place from February 26 to March 20, 2026.

To strengthen examination integrity and prevent unfair practices, the board will implement several innovative security measures:

  • Introduction of QR codes on question papers for the first time to enhance traceability and authenticity
  • Additional monitoring protocols at all examination centers
  • Strict guidelines ensuring invigilators are not appointed from private schools
  • Prevention of invigilator postings at centers located in their own residential areas to maintain transparency

Expanding Examination Infrastructure Across Haryana

Currently, BSEH operates approximately 1,480 examination centers throughout Haryana. Under the revised policy, applications from schools seeking to establish new centers are being actively processed. Villages such as Sampla and Gatoli in Jind district are among those being considered for new examination facilities.

"The final list of examination centers will be announced well before the exams to ensure timely arrangements and avoid inconvenience to students," Sharma confirmed. This advance notification will allow educational institutions, students, and families to make necessary preparations without last-minute confusion.

Addressing Rural Education Challenges

This policy shift represents a substantial step toward addressing longstanding educational disparities between urban and rural areas in Haryana. By bringing examination centers closer to students' homes, the board aims to:

  1. Reduce financial burdens associated with travel expenses
  2. Minimize physical and mental fatigue before critical examinations
  3. Improve overall examination performance by creating more comfortable testing environments
  4. Increase accessibility for students with mobility challenges or limited family support

The initiative reflects a growing recognition within India's education sector that logistical barriers can significantly impact academic outcomes, particularly in rural communities. As BSEH prepares for the 2026 examination cycle, this village-centered approach could serve as a model for other state education boards seeking to make examinations more equitable and student-friendly.
