Gujarat Launches Online Applications for Chief Minister Gyan Sadhana Merit Scholarship
The Gujarat State Examination Board has announced that the online application process for the prestigious Chief Minister Gyan Sadhana Merit Scholarship Examination will commence from Thursday. This initiative is designed to provide substantial financial support to meritorious students from economically weaker backgrounds across the state, enabling them to pursue their education beyond Class 8.
Application Details and Eligibility Criteria
Eligible students can submit their applications online through their respective schools until February 16. The scholarship examination is scheduled for April 5, a date chosen strategically to ensure maximum participation from students. Officials have emphasized that this timing allows ample preparation time while avoiding conflicts with other academic commitments.
Under this scheme, approximately 25,000 students from various regions of Gujarat will be selected for financial assistance. The scholarship aims to bridge the gap for talented students who might otherwise face financial hurdles in continuing their education. It specifically targets those studying in private schools from Classes 9 to 12, offering a total scholarship amount of nearly Rs 94,000 over four years.
Additional Benefits and Admission Opportunities
In addition to the financial aid, the scholarship program opens doors to further educational opportunities. Based on the merit list for the academic year 2026–27, students will be granted admissions to Class 9 in Adarsh Residential Schools, which are operated by the Tribal Development Department. This provides a pathway to quality residential education for deserving candidates.
Moreover, students from private schools who appear for the examination will also be eligible for admission to 65 vacant seats in Raksha Shakti School, based on merit. This inclusion ensures that high-achieving students have access to specialized institutions that can further enhance their academic and personal development.
Scholarship Structure and Financial Support
The scholarship amounts vary based on the students' educational background and the type of schools they attend. For instance:
- Students who studied from Classes 1 to 8 in private schools under the Right to Education (RTE) Act and secure admission to self-financed schools after clearing the examination will receive an annual scholarship of Rs 22,000 for Classes 9 and 10 and Rs 25,000 per year for Classes 11 and 12.
- Similarly, students who studied from Classes 1 to 8 in government or granted schools and continue their education in government or granted schools after passing the exam will be awarded Rs 5,000 per year for Classes 9 and 10 and Rs 7,000 per year for Classes 11 and 12.
This structured financial support is tailored to address the diverse needs of students from different educational backgrounds, ensuring that economic constraints do not hinder their academic progress. The Gujarat government's focus on merit-based assistance underscores its commitment to fostering educational excellence and equity across the state.
