A senior teacher at a prominent school in Ahmedabad has been suspended with immediate effect following a disturbing incident of corporal punishment captured on camera. The event, which has sparked outrage among parents, occurred at Tripada School located in the Ghatlodia area.
Altercation During English Lecture
The incident took place on Tuesday during an English class. According to sources, the teacher, identified as Nishanand, was allegedly annoyed by noise stemming from a student's use of a whitener. In response, the educator asked the Class 9 student to stand up, took him aside, and then proceeded to slap him multiple times.
The student, reportedly shocked and humiliated by the physical assault, broke down. The news quickly reached the child's parents, who rushed to the school premises to confront the authorities.
Parents' Outrage and School's Investigation
Angry parents gathered outside the school, demanding strict disciplinary action against the teacher. They insisted on a public apology and called for accountability. The school management, led by administrator Archit Bhatt, took the complaint seriously and initiated a prompt investigation.
The crucial evidence came from the school's CCTV system. The management reviewed the footage in the presence of the aggrieved parents. Sources confirmed that the video clearly showed the teacher slapping the student, leaving no doubt about the misconduct.
Immediate Suspension and Zero-Tolerance Stance
Confronted with irrefutable visual proof, the school administration took decisive action. School administrator Archit Bhatt stated that when questioned, the teacher failed to provide any valid justification for his aggressive behavior.
"The CCTV footage confirmed that the teacher had slapped the student. When asked, the teacher failed to provide any valid justification for his actions. Hence, he was suspended," Bhatt stated clearly. He emphasized that although the teacher was senior and had been with the school for approximately six months, such behavior would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
The swift suspension highlights the growing institutional pressure against corporal punishment in Indian schools. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the need for continuous teacher training on positive disciplinary methods and child protection laws.
