Kolkata's vibrant educational scene witnessed a spectacular celebration of youthful talent as South Point School hosted the 23rd edition of its annual inter-school festival, Ullas 2025–2026. The event, held recently on the school premises, successfully brought together more than 500 enthusiastic students from 12 different schools across the city.

A Grand Inauguration Sets the Tone

The two-day cultural and intellectual extravaganza was inaugurated by an eminent personality, Rajeeb Chakraborty. Chakraborty, an internationally-acclaimed sarod player, respected educationist, and renowned music composer, officially set the festival in motion. His presence underscored the event's commitment to blending artistic excellence with academic pursuit.

A Fusion of Science, Art, and Ideas

Ullas 2025–26 served as a dynamic platform for the exchange of ideas among young minds. Significantly, the festival's theme paid homage to 2025 being declared the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology. This global focus was reflected in several science-based events and competitions organized during the festival.

The school campus was beautifully decorated for the occasion, adorned with colourful pinwheels. These pinwheels were not just decorative; they symbolised a harmonious fusion of scientific curiosity and aesthetic beauty, perfectly capturing the essence of ULLAS for this academic year.

Day One: Creativity Takes Center Stage

The first day of the festival was packed with diverse activities that catered to various interests and age groups. Students from classes 2 and 3 showcased their artistic skills in a card-making activity. The stage came alive with Jhalapala, a series of lively Bengali skits inspired by the timeless works of the legendary Sukumar Ray.

Language skills were put to the test in Spell-O-Fun, a engaging language-based quiz designed to enhance vocabulary and spelling prowess. Music lovers were treated to Do-Re-Mi, a special segment that commemorated the 60th anniversary of the classic film 'The Sound of Music'. The day's performances concluded with Roots of Rhythm, a captivating showcase of folk dances from various cultures around the world.

Day Two: Debates and Scientific Imagination

The second day continued the momentum with events stimulating logical thinking and expression. Students of classes 4 and 5 delved into the world of imagination and innovation with Sci-Fi, an event likely focused on scientific storytelling or futuristic ideas. Another highlight was the 'Voice Your Views' debate, which provided a formal platform for students to articulate their opinions on pertinent topics, honing their public speaking and critical thinking abilities.

The successful conclusion of Ullas 2025-26 highlights the importance of such holistic events in the Indian school curriculum. By providing a stage that values both scientific inquiry and artistic expression, South Point School has once again fostered an environment where young students can explore, collaborate, and grow beyond textbooks, contributing to their overall development as future-ready individuals.
