In a significant push for technological advancement in academia, a top education official in Karnataka has called for the widespread adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to elevate the quality of learning across the state's higher education institutions.

Championing AI for Educational Excellence

Prof SR Niranjan, the Vice-Chairman of the Karnataka State Higher Education Council, made this compelling appeal while inaugurating an international conference. The event, focused on the theme of 'Responsible Artificial Intelligence', was held at Karnatak University in Dharwad on Monday.

Prof Niranjan emphasized that the education system must increasingly integrate AI tools and methodologies. He traced the evolution of Indian education, noting its journey from the ancient Gurukul tradition to the contemporary threshold of the artificial intelligence era. His address underscored the necessity of harnessing AI's potential to create a more effective and responsive educational framework.

A Collaborative Forum on Responsible AI

The international conference served as a major collaborative platform, bringing together prestigious institutions from India and abroad. It was organized by the Department of Computer Science at Karnatak University in partnership with several key organizations.

The inaugural session witnessed the presence of several distinguished academics and administrators, reflecting the conference's importance. Prof AM Khan, the Vice-Chancellor of Karnatak University, presided over the session.

Other notable speakers and attendees included Prof PL Dharma, Vice-Chancellor of Mangalore University, and Prof SR Mahadev Prasanna, Director of the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) in Dharwad. The gathering also featured Prof Kumbar, Vice-Chancellor of Davanagere University, along with professors Aghnesh Anupam (Cardiff Metropolitan University), NY Mattihal, Sridevi, Vijaykumar Gurani, Eshwar Baidari, and Shivashankar S, among others.
