Six-Day Faculty Development Programme Concludes Successfully in Buxar
A comprehensive six-day faculty development programme (FDP), organized collaboratively by Government Engineering College (GEC) Buxar and the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Patna, concluded on Sunday. Conducted in a hybrid format that combined both in-person and virtual participation, this intensive programme was specifically designed to elevate teaching methodologies, foster research capabilities, and enhance technological awareness among faculty members.
Valedictory Session Features Expert Insights
The concluding ceremony was highlighted by an expert lecture delivered by Debashish Khan, a distinguished professor from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at IIT (BHU) Varanasi, who attended as the guest of honour. Professor Khan elaborated on innovative teaching-learning practices, emphasized the critical need for a research-driven academic environment, and underscored the importance of maintaining sustained academic excellence in engineering education.
Organizational Framework and Key Contributors
This faculty development initiative was organized under the Malviya Mission Teacher Training Programme (MMTTP) by IIT Patna in partnership with GEC Buxar. The successful execution of the event was significantly facilitated by the guidance of Ram Naresh Rai, the principal of GEC Buxar, whose leadership ensured smooth operations throughout the programme.
The FDP was convened by Sanjoy Kumar Parida, an associate professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at IIT Patna. Ajay Kumar Yadav, also an associate professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at IIT Patna, served as the programme coordinator. From the host institution, GEC Buxar, Santosh Kumar, an assistant professor of mechanical engineering, acted as the coordinator, with Gautam Kumar and Ritesh Kumar fulfilling the roles of co-coordinators.
Wide Participation from Multiple Institutions
The programme attracted substantial participation from educators across various institutions. A total of 45 assistant and associate professors from GEC Buxar attended the sessions offline. Additionally, the programme saw participation from eight faculty members representing Government ITI Buxar, Government Women’s ITI Buxar, and Government ITI Dumraon. Furthermore, five participants from Agriculture University, Dumraon, also joined the programme, broadening its reach and impact.
Programme Structure and Outcomes
The six-day schedule was meticulously structured, featuring four academic sessions daily, which participants described as highly enriching and intellectually stimulating. The programme concluded with a comprehensive assessment test, after which certificates were awarded to all successful participants during the valedictory ceremony.
On this occasion, convener Sanjoy Kumar Parida assured continued support and announced plans for organizing another faculty development programme in the Department of Electrical Engineering at GEC Buxar, scheduled for February. This commitment highlights the ongoing efforts to enhance educational standards and faculty competencies in the region.
