Governor Gehlot Inspires Graduates at Haveri University's Historic First Convocation
Governor Thaawar Chand Gehlot delivered a powerful address at the inaugural convocation of Haveri University, calling on students to harness their education to realize the vision of a self-reliant India. The ceremony, held at KLE's Gudleppa Hallikeri College in Haveri on Monday, marked a significant milestone for the institution and the region.

Governor Gehlot emphasized that receiving a degree is not merely about obtaining a certificate but accepting a profound responsibility to positively impact society. He advised graduates to look beyond traditional job pursuits and consider creating self-employment opportunities. "Learning never ends and is intertwined with life," Gehlot remarked, urging students to stay adaptable in an era transformed by artificial intelligence, data science, and the digital revolution.
Distinguished Guests and Honorees Celebrate Academic Excellence
The event was presided over by Governor Gehlot, with Justice Ashok B. Hinchageri, President of the Karnataka Law Commission and retired judge of the Karnataka High Court, delivering the convocation address. Justice Hinchageri described the ceremony as a declaration of students' readiness to tackle life's challenges, advocating for education as a path from "animalistic to divine."
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Suresh H. Jangamashetti also spoke at the gathering, which saw the conferral of honors and awards:
- Honorary doctorates awarded to Sadashiva Swamiji of Hukkeri Math and writer Satish Kulkarni for their social and educational contributions.
- Gold medals presented to seven outstanding students.
- Cash prizes given to eleven achievers.
- Degrees awarded to a total of 1,063 graduates across various disciplines.
