Nagpur University's examination section announced over 650 results for the winter 2025 examinations after the mandated 45-day deadline, while nearly 90 results for major courses remain pending even as the summer exam season is set to begin.
Delayed Results and Pending Declarations
Out of approximately 1,171 results published so far, as many as 656 were declared beyond the 45-day timeframe stipulated by the Maharashtra Public Universities Act. Of the 87 remaining pending results, 50 are under processing and 40 are awaiting scrutiny, according to university officials. These figures indicate that a majority of students either continue to wait for their results or have endured delays spanning two to three months.
This performance stands in stark contrast to Nagpur University's own past record, where it achieved strong results by announcing bulk results within a 30-day deadline and never missed the 45-day schedule for any examination since 2016. For instance, the university declared results for its 1,013 winter 2024 examinations within 30 days, having conducted 1,221 exams. Some results were released in less than 20 days after the last paper in winter 2024, which commenced in October 2024 and concluded without any issues on December 31.
Winter 2025 Examination Timeline
The winter 2025 examinations began in November after an inordinate delay of nearly two months. The last paper of the season was held on February 28. Consequently, many students are anxiously awaiting results for periods exceeding three to four months.
Summer Exams and Clashes with Entrance Tests
The examination section has now released 482 timetables for the second, fourth, sixth, and eighth semester summer exams. However, confusion persists among students regarding backlog exams they may need to appear for. Students are also grappling with confusion and stress after the university's summer examination timetable clashed with several national-level and professional entrance tests, leaving many uncertain about which exam to prioritize.
The university's summer examinations are scheduled to begin on May 5. Students from political science and other streams have reported clashes with competitive exams. Engineering students affiliated with the university face a similar crisis, with their exams coinciding with entrance tests for premier institutes like the Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT).
In one notable case, a student who secured an opportunity for admission into an IIT programme now risks losing it, as her entrance test falls on the same day as her university's final semester engineering exam. University officials stated that they are assessing the extent of overlaps. While rescheduling the entire timetable may not be feasible, they assured relief measures. Students facing clashes have been asked to submit applications with proof of overlapping exams, following which special examinations may be arranged for them.
