The Telangana Board of Intermediate Education (TGBIE) is set to conduct the Intermediate Public Advanced Supplementary Examinations (IPASE) 2026 for first and second-year students from May 13 to May 21 across the state. According to the board, a total of 3,98,358 students from both General and Vocational streams will take the supplementary theory examinations this year. Of them, 2,67,285 are first-year students, while 1,31,073 candidates belong to the second-year category, including private candidates.
Examination Schedule and Sessions
The examinations will be conducted in two sessions daily. First-year examinations will be held from 9 am to 12 noon, while second-year examinations will take place from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm.
Over 1.31 Lakh Second-Year Candidates to Appear
Among second-year candidates, boys account for the majority of examinees. Official figures show that 83,692 male students and 47,371 female students are expected to appear for the examinations. In the General stream, 74,883 boys and 44,365 girls have registered, while in the Vocational stream, 8,809 boys and 3,006 girls will write the examinations.
Government Departments Directed to Ensure Smooth Conduct
The board has coordinated with multiple government departments to avoid disruptions during the examinations. RTC authorities have been requested to ensure adequate transport arrangements for students and staff during examination days. Electricity department officials have been directed to maintain uninterrupted power supply at all centres. District Medical and Health Officers (DMHOs) have been instructed to arrange medical aid and deploy one nurse or ANM staff member at every examination centre. Meanwhile, police and revenue authorities have been asked to shut down xerox centres located near examination venues during examination hours to prevent paper leaks and malpractice attempts. The board also stated that drinking water, wall clocks, and furniture arrangements would be ensured at all centres. Officials clarified that no student would be made to sit on the floor for writing examinations.
Question Papers Already Dispatched
The TGBIE said all question papers and answer booklets have already been dispatched to districts for onward distribution to examination centres ahead of the examinations. The Regional Joint Directors of Intermediate Education and officials from the TGBIE headquarters in Hyderabad will be deputed as observers to districts during the entire examination schedule. The board warned that strict action would be initiated against any officials or managements found violating examination norms or facilitating malpractice.
Hall Tickets Through QR-Code Enabled System
In a major digital measure, the board said hall tickets would be sent to students through a mobile link. The admit cards will carry QR codes that can be scanned to access the exact examination centre location. Students have been advised to carefully verify details such as name, medium, and subjects mentioned on their hall tickets. Any discrepancies must be corrected through the concerned college principal before the examination date. The board clarified that no candidate would be allowed to enter the examination hall without a valid TGBIE-issued hall ticket.
Students Asked to Report One Hour Early
The board has issued strict reporting instructions for candidates. First-year students have been directed to report at examination centres by 8 am, while second-year candidates must reach by 1:30 pm. Officials said the early reporting system has been introduced to curb malpractice and streamline verification procedures. Students will be allowed to verify their bio-data on OMR sheets between 8:45 am and 9 am for first-year examinations, and between 2:15 pm and 2:30 pm for second-year examinations. Question papers will be distributed immediately after the verification process concludes.
