Rajasthan Minister on NEET UG 2026 Cancellation: No Big Deal

Rajasthan's Education Minister, Madan Dilawar, on Tuesday downplayed the cancellation of the NEET UG 2026 examination, stating that it is not a big issue. He assured students that the state government will make alternative arrangements to ensure their academic future is not disrupted.

Minister's Statement

Speaking to reporters in Jaipur, Dilawar said, "The cancellation of NEET UG 2026 is a routine administrative decision. There is no need for students to panic. The state government is committed to providing a smooth pathway for medical aspirants." He added that the decision was taken after careful consideration and in the best interest of students.

Background of the Cancellation

The National Testing Agency (NTA) had earlier announced the cancellation of the NEET UG 2026 examination, citing logistical and administrative challenges. This move sparked widespread concern among medical aspirants across the country, particularly in Rajasthan, where a large number of students appear for the exam each year.

However, Dilawar emphasized that the cancellation does not mean an end to opportunities. "We are exploring all options, including conducting a state-level medical entrance exam or aligning with other national-level tests," he said.

Reactions from Students and Parents

While the minister's statement aims to reassure, many students and parents remain anxious. Ankit Sharma, a NEET aspirant from Jaipur, said, "We have been preparing for years. Any sudden change creates uncertainty. We hope the government provides a clear roadmap soon."

Parents have also expressed concerns about the timing of the cancellation, with many urging the state government to announce alternative plans at the earliest.

Government's Assurance

The education minister reiterated that the state government is in constant touch with the central authorities and will ensure that no student's hard work goes in vain. "Our priority is to maintain the academic calendar and ensure that students do not lose an academic year," Dilawar added.

The Rajasthan government is expected to release a detailed plan within the next few weeks, addressing the concerns of all stakeholders.
