Navi Mumbai Fencer Excels in Academics and Sports
Prishaa Chhetri, a 19-year-old fencer from Belapur, Navi Mumbai, has achieved remarkable success in both academics and sports. Despite battling dengue and a hectic schedule of travel and competitions, she scored an impressive 92.2% in the CBSE Class 12 science stream.
Overcoming Health and Schedule Challenges
Shortly after returning from the state youth fencing championship with a top medal, Prishaa contracted dengue. She recovered just in time for her board exams but then left for the national youth fencing championship. Her determination never wavered, and she managed to excel in both arenas.
Balancing Training and Studies
A four-time national medal winner and student of Delhi Public School, Prishaa chose science against her parents' advice to opt for commerce or humanities. She commuted daily from Belapur to Wadala for fencing training at the Elite Fencing Club, never missing a session throughout the exam year. Her hard work paid off with a stellar academic performance.
Dreams of Physics Research and Olympic Glory
Prishaa said, "Despite hours-long training, I was sure of scoring better in board exams and turned the table in my favour. I am happy that I have been successful in both academics and sports. My dream is to do research in Physics and don the tricolour in the Olympics as well."
Mother's Pride
Her mother, Jaya, expressed immense pride, stating, "She is very hard working and her determination and perseverance have made us proud in sports and studies. She proved that things are possible by the dint of hard work."
