Agricultural exports from the Prayagraj division are demonstrating remarkable resilience, continuing to flourish despite the ongoing crisis in West Asia. In a significant development for the region's economy, exports remained robust throughout March, with 843 metric tons of agricultural products shipped internationally, generating substantial revenue of Rs 3.26 crore.

Non-Basmati Rice Emerges as Export Champion

According to Dinesh Chandra, assistant agricultural marketing officer for the Prayagraj division, non-Basmati rice has emerged as the undisputed leader in export performance during the current financial year. The statistics reveal an extraordinary achievement: during 2025–26, a massive 19,172.9 metric tons of rice were exported from the division, resulting in foreign exchange earnings totaling Rs 75.77 crore.

The Sri Ram Traders Mini Rice Mill located in Pratapgarh has played a pivotal role in this export success story, contributing significantly to the division's rice export efforts. This high-quality rice has found markets in neighboring Nepal, establishing valuable trade relationships.

Groundnuts and Other Products Make Their Mark

Following rice in export prominence, groundnuts have demonstrated impressive performance, generating revenue of Rs 2.96 crore through exports of several metric tons to Bangladesh. This diversification of export products has strengthened the division's agricultural economy and reduced dependency on any single commodity.

Government Initiatives Fuel Export Growth

The Uttar Pradesh government, under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's leadership, has implemented strategic measures to boost agricultural exports and enhance farmer incomes. The agricultural export policy introduced by the Yogi government has proven instrumental in this growth, offering valuable incentives that have encouraged both farmers and exporters to expand their international market presence.

These policy initiatives have yielded tangible results, with the Prayagraj division experiencing a significant surge in agricultural exports during the financial year 2025–26. Among all agricultural products, rice recorded the highest volume of exports, establishing itself as the division's flagship export commodity.

Farmers Embrace Global Market Opportunities

A transformative shift is occurring among farmers in the Prayagraj division, who are increasingly looking beyond traditional local markets and demonstrating keen interest in exporting their agricultural produce to international destinations. This evolving mindset has directly contributed to record-breaking increases in farm exports from the region.

Farmers' produce from this region has successfully established a global footprint, reaching diverse international markets including Canada, the United Kingdom, Dubai, and Bangladesh. This geographical expansion represents a significant achievement for the agricultural community.

Coordinated Efforts Yield Impressive Results

Dinesh Chandra attributes the rapid growth in agricultural exports to improved coordination between exporters and farmers, coupled with a positive transformation in farmers' perspectives toward international markets. The collaborative approach has created a more efficient export ecosystem that benefits all stakeholders.

The comprehensive export data for the financial year 2025–26 reveals extraordinary achievements: a total of 19,683.17 metric tons of agricultural produce was exported from the Prayagraj Division, generating export revenue amounting to Rs 79.95 crore for farmers. These figures underscore the division's growing importance in India's agricultural export landscape.

The sustained growth of agricultural exports from Prayagraj, despite geopolitical challenges in West Asia, demonstrates the resilience of the region's farming community and the effectiveness of government support policies. As farmers continue to embrace global market opportunities, the division is poised to further strengthen its position as a significant contributor to India's agricultural export economy.
