Dr Ambedkar Nagar Express Emerges as North Central Railway's Top Revenue Earner

In a significant achievement for the North Central Railway (NCR), the Dr Ambedkar Nagar Express has been declared the highest revenue-generating train for the financial year 2025–26. According to the zone's official financial performance report, this train, which operates via Prayagraj and Ujjain on the Indore route, amassed an impressive Rs 40.56 crore in earnings.

Shifts in the Revenue Rankings

Amit Kumar Singh, the public relations officer for the Prayagraj division, highlighted that the previous top performer, the Khajuraho-Udaipur City Express, has now slipped to second place with revenues of Rs 39.98 crore. Meanwhile, the widely utilized Prayagraj-New Delhi Express maintained its strong performance but secured the third position, generating Rs 35.50 crore.

Prayagraj's Dominance in Railway Revenue

Prayagraj continues to underscore its critical role as a passenger transit hub, with five out of the top 10 highest-earning trains in the NCR either originating from or passing through the city. This dominance reflects the city's strategic importance in the regional railway network and its contribution to overall financial performance.

Other Major Contributors to NCR's Revenue

Several other trains also made notable contributions to the NCR's revenue stream. The Prayagraj-Lokmanya Tilak Duronto Express, despite operating only twice a week, generated Rs 34 crore from 105 trips. Additionally, the Manikpur-New Delhi Sampark Kranti Express and Khajuraho-New Delhi Vande Bharat Express earned Rs 31.98 crore and Rs 31.55 crore, respectively, showcasing their popularity and efficiency.

Steady Earnings on Key Intercity Routes

Trains such as the Prayagraj-New Delhi Humsafar Express and Kanpur-New Delhi Shram Shakti Express continued to register steady earnings, indicating robust passenger demand on vital intercity routes connected to Prayagraj. This trend underscores the ongoing reliance on railway services for travel and commerce in the region.

New Special Train Service Announced

In a related development, the NCR has announced a special train service from Subedarganj station in Prayagraj to Dadri, aimed at easing passenger movement towards Noida and Greater Noida. This service is scheduled to operate from April 22 to 30, addressing increased travel demand during this period and enhancing connectivity for commuters.
