Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has embarked on a monumental real estate venture in Dubai, announcing a luxurious yet affordable residential tower named after him. The 'Shahrukhz' project, valued at a staggering Rs 4,000 crore, was unveiled by the actor in partnership with a Dubai-based property developer at an event in Mumbai.
A Tribute and a Landmark
During the emotional announcement, Shah Rukh Khan revealed that the honour of having a building bear his name would have made his late mother immensely proud. "What can I say? Meri maa zinda hoti toh boht khush hoti (If my mother were alive, she'd be very happy)," he shared. The actor also expressed his excitement at the prospect of showing the landmark to his children, saying he would tell them, "Dekho papa ki building hai" (Look, it's our dad's building).
In a unique tribute, a statue of the Bollywood icon will be erected in front of the property, permanently etching his identity into the sands of Dubai. Khan emphasized that this is a rare occasion, as he typically avoids naming things after himself. "I never name anything after me. Look at the name of my company (Red Chillies Entertainment) and my house (Mannat). I don't find myself so important that I should take things and put my name on them," he stated, making this project a significant exception.
Affordable Luxury in the Heart of Dubai
Despite its grand scale and association with a global superstar, Shah Rukh Khan was keen to highlight the project's accessibility. He described the Danube property as being very "affordable," especially tailored for young professionals and families beginning their journey in the vibrant city. "It's also very affordable, especially for the people who are starting out their lives in Dubai and they want to get somewhere in their lives. I think for them this is going to be such a big boon and hopefully an inspiration," the actor remarked.
The tower is designed to offer state-of-the-art living across a massive 1 million square feet area, distributed over 56 storeys. Prospective residents can look forward to a wealth of amenities, including complimentary clubs, sophisticated outdoor lounges, fully-equipped gymnasiums, and even a private helipad.
Project Timeline and Investment Details
The ambitious Shahrukhz project is currently in the development phase and is expected to be completed within the next 3-4 years, with a target launch in 2029. The residential units are reportedly priced starting from $460,000, which is approximately Rs 4.2 crore This announcement adds another feather to Shah Rukh Khan's cap in a year that has seen him achieve the status of an official billionaire.
