In a significant boost to Kerala's IT infrastructure, the ambitious QUAD project planned at Technopark in Thiruvananthapuram has received the crucial formal environmental clearance. This paves the way for the development of a massive integrated IT and office campus at Technopark Phase IV, located in Pallipuram.
Project Details and Scale
The QUAD project is envisioned as a holistic live-work-play campus spanning approximately 30 acres of land. This area is divided into four distinct land parcels. The centerpiece will be a state-of-the-art green IT building covering a built-up area of 8.5 lakh square feet on a 5.5-acre plot.
The construction cost for this flagship IT building is pegged at Rs 381 crore. Once operational, it is designed to have the potential to employ around 6,000 IT professionals. Since the building will be owned by Technopark itself, authorities expect the construction to progress at a faster pace compared to private developments.
Progress and Development Timeline
The project has been steadily moving through the approval and planning stages. It first received an in-principle approval from the state government in January 2022. A project architect consultant was also appointed earlier in the process.
Currently, the tender process to select a co-developer for the actual construction is in its final stages. Five companies participated in the bidding, and the evaluation process is complete, with the estimate of one company currently under scrutiny. This marks a critical step towards turning the plans into reality.
A Vision for Integrated Sustainable Development
The QUAD project is not just another office complex. It is designed to seamlessly integrate IT innovation, commercial vibrancy, and sustainable design principles. The vision is to create a self-contained ecosystem where IT professionals can work, live, and relax without long commutes.
The campus plan includes:
- Shopping amenities for daily needs and leisure.
- Residential quarters to house professionals on-site or nearby.
- A focus on sustainable design in its green IT building, aligning with modern environmental standards.
The project promises to significantly enhance Technopark's offerings, making it a more attractive destination for major IT companies and talent, thereby boosting the local economy and solidifying Thiruvananthapuram's position on the national IT map.
