Lucknow's Green Corridor Daliganj-Samta Mulak Stretch Set for February 22 Inauguration

In a major development for urban mobility in Lucknow, the Daliganj to Samta Mulak intersection stretch of the Green Corridor is likely to open for traffic from February 22. This opening promises substantial relief from chronic congestion in some of the city's busiest and most critical pockets, transforming daily commutes for thousands of residents.

High-Profile Inauguration and Project Scope

According to official sources, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath are expected to inaugurate this crucial stretch on the scheduled date. Following the inauguration ceremony, traffic will be formally allowed to move through this newly completed section of the corridor.

Constructed by the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA), the Green Corridor is an ambitious 57-kilometer-long project planned between IIM Road and Kisan Path. It is envisaged as a comprehensive, signal-free urban road network designed to decongest the city's core.

Completed Infrastructure and Immediate Benefits

Under this phase of the project, significant infrastructure has been completed, including:

  • Bridges, road overbridges (ROBs), and embankments between Daliganj and Hanuman Setu.
  • Critical links between Hanuman Setu and Nishatganj.
  • The vital connection from Nishatganj to Samta Mulak.

Officials have issued strict instructions to complete all remaining finishing and development works at the earliest to ensure a smooth launch. The corridor's primary impact will be a dramatic reduction in travel time across several key areas, including:

  • Nishatganj
  • Hanuman Setu
  • University Chowk
  • Lucknow University campus
  • Daliganj

Journeys that previously took considerably longer due to heavy traffic snarls are now expected to be completed in just 10 to 15 minutes. Notably, the specific stretch from Samta Mulak to Nishatganj is anticipated to take approximately 5 minutes, a remarkable improvement for local commuters.

Project Cost and Future Phases

The total estimated cost of the overarching Green Corridor project stands at a substantial Rs 2,078 crore. Looking ahead, the project's second phase includes several key constructions:

  1. A 2-lane overbridge near Hanuman Setu, with an estimated cost of Rs 28 crore.
  2. A 4-lane overbridge near the Nishatganj embankment, costing around Rs 50 crore.
  3. A 4-lane road from Nishatganj to the Kukrail bridge, with an outlay of about Rs 58 crore.

The third and subsequent phase will focus on extending connectivity towards the final endpoints of IIM Road and Kisan Path. This phase will involve:

  • Widening of existing roads.
  • Construction of additional flyovers and service roads.
  • Comprehensive improvement of junctions along the remaining stretches.

Officials confirmed that necessary land-related processes and technical clearances for this third phase are currently underway, indicating continued momentum for this transformative infrastructure initiative.
