During a crucial meeting of the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) held on Monday, Divisional Commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant took a firm stand. He ordered authorities to implement rigorous and regular oversight of the core infrastructure within townships built by private real estate developers. The primary goal is to proactively prevent any inconvenience to the people living in these communities.
Pant explicitly mandated that Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) in these areas must undergo thorough inspection by the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board. Furthermore, these STPs will now be subject to compulsory periodic testing for key parameters including Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD), Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), and faecal coliform levels. This step is critical for ensuring environmental compliance and public health safety.
Comprehensive Infrastructure Checks Mandated
The commissioner's orders extend beyond wastewater management. The scope of monitoring will now comprehensively cover other vital utilities. Officials have been instructed to keep a close watch on the functioning of electrical substations, sewer line networks, and other essential services. This holistic approach is designed to ensure that residents receive reliable power, proper sanitation, and uninterrupted basic facilities, holding developers accountable for the infrastructure they promised.
Review of Upcoming Residential Projects
The same LDA meeting also involved a detailed review of several proposed large-scale residential schemes that are in the pipeline. Progress on projects identified as Varun Vihar, Naimish Nagar, IT City, and Wellness City was assessed. According to officials, the ongoing work related to land pooling and land purchase for these ambitious projects was found to be proceeding at a satisfactory pace.
