Noida's Medical Device Park Deadline Extended to 2027, Rs 100 Crore Project
Medical Device Park in Noida gets deadline extension to 2027

The Central government has granted a crucial one-year extension for the completion of the ambitious Medical Device Park in Yamuna City, Noida. The new deadline for the project is now set for March 2027, officials confirmed. The park, a key initiative to boost domestic manufacturing of high-end medical equipment, was originally slated for completion by March of this year.

Project Progress and Key Developments

The sprawling 350-acre park is being developed by the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) in Sector 28. While the construction of buildings to house 13 laboratories is complete, the installation of key equipment is still underway. The project's progress was recently reviewed in an online meeting chaired by the Union Pharmaceuticals Secretary. Senior officials from Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu—the three states where similar medical device parks are being developed—participated in this review.

A significant component of the park, a gamma radiation centre, is currently in progress. Officials stated that a government agency is expected to be brought on board through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the construction and operation of this facility. To inform this process, officials have already inspected an operational gamma radiation centre located in Mathura.

Strategic Focus and Industry Allotment

The park has a clear strategic vision to attract leading manufacturers of sophisticated, oncology-focused medical equipment. The targeted segments are comprehensive and include:

  • Cancer care and radiotherapy systems
  • Radiology and imaging devices such as CT, MRI, and PET-CT scanners
  • Advanced cardio-respiratory and anaesthesia equipment
  • Orthopaedic, cardiac, neuro, and oncology-related implants
  • Implantable electronics
  • In-vitro diagnostic systems

Land has already been allotted to more than 100 companies, indicating strong industry interest in the facility.

Financial Assistance and Next Steps

The Central government is providing substantial financial assistance of Rs 100 crore for this project. Out of this total, Rs 60 crore has already been sanctioned and utilised on the ground. Officials have indicated that the next instalment of Rs 40 crore is expected to be released within the next month, which will further accelerate the remaining work.

This extension and continued funding underscore the government's commitment to establishing India as a hub for advanced medical device manufacturing, reducing import dependence, and enhancing healthcare infrastructure.
