A massive fire erupted late Saturday night at Nahar Spinning Mills near Lalru in Mohali, causing extensive damage to cotton stock valued at lakhs of rupees and destroying a shed within the factory premises.
Fire Spread Rapidly Due to Inflammable Material
According to sources, the fire originated in two large cotton warehouses of the company and spread swiftly due to the highly inflammable nature of the stored material. Massive flames and thick clouds of smoke were visible from a considerable distance, triggering panic across the industrial area.
Large-Scale Response Operation Launched
The administration immediately initiated a large-scale response operation. Several nearby establishments were evacuated as a precautionary measure. To bring the blaze under control, multiple fire tenders from Dappar Mission Depot, Dera Bassi, Panchkula, and Ambala were pressed into service. Firefighters battled the flames for several hours before finally controlling the fire.
No Casualties Reported
While the incident caused heavy financial losses and led to the collapse of a shed, no loss of life was reported. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, and further investigation is underway.
