Bengaluru Railway Station Reconstruction Disrupts Train Services
Ongoing reconstruction work at the pit line of KSR Bengaluru railway station, commonly known as Majestic, is causing significant changes to train operations in the city. The South Western Railway (SWR) has announced that the terminals of three key express trains will be temporarily shifted to other stations. This disruption will last from Saturday until March 11, impacting passengers who rely on these services.
Specific Train Changes and New Schedules
Passengers need to take note of the following adjustments to avoid inconvenience during their travels. The changes are detailed below to provide clear guidance.
KSR Bengaluru-Ernakulam Junction Express (Train Nos. 16377/16378): This train will no longer start from KSR Bengaluru station. Instead, it will originate from Bengaluru Cantonment station. The departure time is set for 06:20 AM. Travelers should plan their journeys accordingly to reach the new starting point on time.
KSR Bengaluru-Hazur Sahib Nanded Express (Train Nos. 16593/16594): This service will shift its origin to Yesvantpur station. The train will depart at 11:55 PM. Additionally, the route will be diverted, passing through Yesvantpur, Lotte Gollahalli, and Yelahanka. As a result, it will skip stops at KSR Bengaluru and Bengaluru Cantonment stations. Passengers who usually board at these skipped stations must make alternative arrangements.
KSR Bengaluru-Kannur Express (Train Nos. 16511/16512): This train will now begin its journey from SMVT Bengaluru station at 08:00 PM. The diversion will take it via SMVT Bengaluru, Banaswadi, Hebbal, and Yesvantpur. This change ensures the train avoids the affected area at KSR Bengaluru station, maintaining service continuity with adjusted stops.
Impact on Commuters and Travel Plans
The temporary shift in terminals and routes is a direct consequence of the essential reconstruction work at KSR Bengaluru station. SWR has implemented these measures to minimize disruption while ensuring safety and efficiency during the construction period. Passengers are advised to check updated schedules and plan their trips in advance to accommodate the new departure points and timings.
This situation highlights the ongoing infrastructure improvements in Bengaluru's railway network, aimed at enhancing long-term service quality. Travelers should stay informed through official SWR announcements for any further updates or changes during this period.
