EESL Finalises Action Plan for AP MSME Transformation

The Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), operating under the Union ministry of power, has finalised a comprehensive and time-bound action plan to transform the MSME ecosystem in Andhra Pradesh. This initiative aims to leverage advanced global technologies in energy and water efficiency, marking a significant boost to sustainable industrial development in the state.

Scope of the Initiative

The approved scope of work includes phased implementation of advanced technologies and sustainability programmes across MSME clusters. Key activities comprise capacity-building workshops, cluster mapping and diagnostic studies for 15 industrial clusters, investment-grade energy audits for 452 MSMEs, water audits for 300 MSMEs, and deployment of advanced energy-efficient and water-efficient technologies. The programme is designed to help MSMEs adopt modern industrial practices that reduce costs, improve efficiency, enhance global competitiveness, and ensure sustainable industrial growth.

Leadership and Collaboration

EESL CEO Akhilesh Kumar Dixit, in consultation with the AP MSME Development Corporation (APMSME-DC), approved the extensive implementation roadmap. The initiative is expected to reduce operational and maintenance costs for MSMEs, improve industrial productivity, and generate large-scale green employment opportunities. It also promotes efficient use of energy and water resources, strengthening environmental sustainability and climate resilience.

EESL expressed gratitude to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for supporting the implementation of advanced global technologies and for handing over the work order during the AP MSME Growth Summit 2026. The event was attended by Industries and MSME Ministers TG Bharat and Kondapalli Srinivas, Industries Secretary Dr N Yuva Raj, and APMSME CEO M Viswa.

Future Prospects

Dr Yuva Raj stated that the current phase-one implementation is only the beginning of a much larger industrial transformation opportunity for Andhra Pradesh. EESL officials highlighted that strategic partnerships with industrially progressive states like Gujarat, Maharashtra, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh will help create a favourable ecosystem for advanced industrial technologies and sustainable manufacturing practices.

A major highlight of the initiative is its potential to generate direct and indirect employment opportunities while building a strong green industrial ecosystem in Andhra Pradesh. The programme is expected to create opportunities in energy auditing, technical consulting, manufacturing energy-efficient equipment, water management and recycling solutions, digital monitoring and IoT services, operations and maintenance, MSME advisory services, and clean technology deployment.

Officials noted that the initiative could pave the way for a new green industrial services economy in Andhra Pradesh by creating demand for skilled professionals, auditors, technicians, startups, and sustainability experts.
