ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AMNS India) on Tuesday announced the appointment of Nobuo Okochi as Chief Financial Officer, effective July 1. Okochi currently serves as Managing Executive Officer for India, ASEAN, the Middle East, and Africa at Nippon Steel Corporation, which is a joint venture partner in AMNS India.
Leadership Transition
Okochi will succeed Amit Harlalka, who is being elevated to the role of Chief Executive Officer of the company from July 1. The transition marks a strategic move to strengthen the leadership team as the company pursues long-term growth.
Role and Responsibilities
In a statement, AMNS India—a 60:40 joint venture between ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel—said Okochi will oversee finance, strategy, financial planning, capital allocation, and governance functions. His role is designed to support the company’s long-term growth plans and value creation priorities.
Experience and Background
Okochi brings four decades of experience at Nippon Steel Corporation, where he has held senior leadership roles across finance, financial planning, capital budgeting, and global business development. His extensive background includes handling complex international markets and large industrial organizations.
Leadership Comments
AMNS India CEO Dilip Oommen said Okochi’s appointment strengthens the leadership team with a valuable global perspective and deep experience in complex international markets. “His experience across geographies and large industrial organisations will add significant depth to the management team as ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India continues to build a resilient and future-ready enterprise,” Oommen said.
Okochi commented, “AMNS India is well positioned with strong fundamentals and a clear strategic vision. I will work closely with all of the ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India team to drive the company’s long-term growth, maintain robust financial governance, and contribute to sustainable value creation.”
