ACB unearths illegal assets of tax dept attender

The Anti-Corruption Bureau officials on Friday unearthed illegal assets allegedly belonging to Kondapalli Srinivasa Rao, an office subordinate (attender) working in the office of the assistant commissioner of state tax at Governorpeta circle in Vijayawada.

Searches Conducted at Multiple Locations

The ACB teams conducted simultaneous searches at three locations in Vijayawada, including the residential premises of Srinivasa Rao. During the searches, incriminating material, including property documents, was seized.

Properties Unearthed

The properties unearthed include one building, one house site, 760 grams of gold including five gold biscuits, 7.8 kg of silver, bank balances of approximately Rs 22 lakh, some cash, valuable electronic gadgets, two motorcycles, and valuable household articles. The properties are held in the names of the accused, his wife, and son, and are all located in Vijayawada.

Legal Proceedings

The accused will be arrested following due procedure and produced before the special court for trial of ACB cases in Vijayawada. Srinivasa Rao joined as an office subordinate in the state tax department in 1986 and has worked at several places in erstwhile Krishna district and Vijayawada city.

Previous Bribe Case

While he was working in the office of the assistant commissioner of state tax from August 2022, he was caught by ACB officials on October 16, 2025, while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 16,000 and was subsequently arrested. Thereafter, he was enlarged on bail and is presently under suspension.
