Trump: Iran Peace Deal May Be Signed This Weekend in Europe

US President Donald Trump announced on Thursday that a peace deal with Iran could be finalized as early as this weekend, with a signing ceremony potentially taking place in Europe. Speaking from the Oval Office, Trump confirmed that documents for the agreement are expected to be completed within days.

Details of the Agreement

Trump stated that Iran's Supreme Leader has approved the terms of the deal. As part of the agreement, the United States will immediately lift its blockade upon signing, which the president predicted would cause oil prices to plummet. "Yes, that's right. That's part of the deal. And you'll have oil prices dropping like a rock," Trump said.

Nuclear Weapons Prohibition

The president emphasized that Iran has agreed not to develop, purchase, or acquire nuclear weapons in any form. "They will not have a nuclear weapon. They've agreed to that," he asserted, adding that this was a central objective of the negotiations.

Trump expressed confidence that the deal would be finalized soon, attributing Iran's willingness to negotiate to recent US pressure. He described the agreement as "a great deal for the US and for the Middle East" and suggested it would ultimately benefit Iran by allowing the country to rebuild.

"Because they (Iran) have taken a pounding like very few people could take, and they want to make the deal a lot more than I do," Trump remarked. He characterized the current Iranian leadership as more rational than previous officials, calling the agreement a form of "regime change" through negotiation.

The president also noted that the deal sets the stage for deeper nuclear talks, referring to it as a "very strong memorandum of understanding." He added that other influential countries are eager to finalize the agreement and expressed confidence that it will be signed soon.

"It's going to get done," Trump concluded.
