Donald Trump Lauds Tim Cook as 'Incredible Guy' Following Apple Leadership Announcement
Former United States President Donald Trump publicly commended Apple's Tim Cook on Tuesday, describing him as an "incredible guy" and declaring himself a "big fan" of the tech executive. This endorsement came immediately after Apple's significant corporate announcement regarding leadership changes at the world's most valuable technology company.
Trump Recalls Presidential Relationship with Cook
Writing extensively on his Truth Social platform, Trump reflected on his professional relationship with Cook, revealing that their connection began during his initial presidential term. According to Trump, Cook reached out directly to the White House seeking assistance with what he described as "a fairly large problem that only I, as President, could fix."
The former president made a particularly memorable remark about this initial contact, stating: "When I got the call I said, wow, it's Tim Apple (Cook!) calling, how big is that? I was very impressed with myself to have the head of Apple calling to 'kiss my ass.'"
Trump elaborated that he found Cook's direct approach refreshing compared to typical corporate strategies, noting that many executives would have paid millions to consultants who claimed political connections but delivered little results. He emphasized that he addressed Cook's concern "quickly and effectively" after determining the Apple leader's position was justified.
Ongoing Presidential Assistance and Growing Respect
According to Trump's account, Cook maintained contact throughout his presidency, calling "multiple times" over five years, though never excessively. Trump stated he provided assistance "where I could," though he noted Cook could occasionally be "too aggressive in his ask."
"Years later, after 3 or 4 BIG HELPS, I started to say to people, anyone who would listen, that this guy is an amazing manager and leader," Trump wrote, highlighting his growing admiration for Cook's capabilities.
Comparing Cook to Steve Jobs
Trump offered a noteworthy comparison between Cook's leadership and that of Apple's legendary co-founder Steve Jobs. While acknowledging that Apple would have succeeded under Jobs' continued leadership, Trump suggested the company might not have achieved the same extraordinary growth trajectory witnessed under Cook's stewardship.
Praising Cook's tenure comprehensively, Trump added: "Tim Cook had an AMAZING career, almost incomparable, and will go on and continue to do great work for Apple, and whatever else he chooses to work on."
Apple's Official Leadership Transition
Apple formally announced that Tim Cook will transition from Chief Executive Officer to Executive Chairman of the board of directors. John Ternus, currently Apple's Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering, will assume the CEO role effective September 1, 2026.
In his official statement regarding the transition, Cook expressed profound affection for Apple, stating he loves the company "with all of my being" and described leading it as the "greatest privilege of my life." He added that he feels "a gratitude that I cannot put into words" for his experience at the technology giant.
Cook will maintain significant influence within Apple through his continued leadership role as executive chairman, ensuring continuity during this corporate transition period while allowing new leadership to emerge under Ternus's direction.
