Wall Collapse on Classroom in Faridabad: 4 Students Injured

Four students of a private school in Faridabad's Kheri Pul area sustained serious head and facial injuries after a wall from an adjacent under-construction building collapsed onto the roof of their classroom on Saturday morning. The incident occurred around 9:30 am at Hans Memorial Public School on the 35-feet road in Bharat Colony.

Incident Details

Approximately 20 UKG students and their teacher were inside the classroom when debris from the neighboring under-construction building crashed through the roof. The school offers classes up to the eighth standard. At the time of filing this report, police had not registered an FIR. The owner of the under-construction building allegedly fled after the incident.

Injuries and Rescue

Among the injured, Deepti, Divya, Meera, and Nandu—all between six and seven years old—suffered severe head and facial injuries. Several other students sustained minor injuries. According to school staff, the debris fell directly onto the classroom benches, trapping multiple children underneath. Teachers and other staff members rushed to the spot and rescued the students from the debris-filled classroom, which contained 11 double benches.

School Principal Absent

School principal Divya Parashar was not present at the time as she was unwell. Her father, who is also the owner of the school, alleged that the owner of the under-construction building ignored repeated warnings to follow safety measures during construction. “I personally requested the person constructing the fourth floor of his house to take proper safety precautions, but he did not pay heed, which eventually led to this accident. We immediately rushed all the students to the hospital and all of them are now safe,” he said.

Medical Response

The four seriously injured students were taken to BK Hospital, while the others received first aid at nearby Chauhan Hospital. Following the incident, all students were evacuated from the school premises. School officials said students had been called on Saturday only to collect holiday homework ahead of the summer vacation, which begins on Monday.

Parent's Account

Amit, the father of one of the injured students, said he was at work when the incident occurred. “Fortunately, there were no fatalities. My daughter suffered a head injury but she is stable now,” he said.

Investigation

Several police teams arrived at the scene after being alerted. Investigators are examining whether negligence in the construction work or a lack of safety measures led to the collapse. Police are likely to register a case against the building owner.
