Despite a brief lull in American operations, the combined military efforts of the United States and Israel have intensified, focusing on crippling Iran's missile capabilities. According to recent analyses, these strikes have targeted critical assets across Iran, including missile launchers, storage facilities, and production sites.
Strategic Targets Hit in Recent Operations
The Institute for the Study of War reports that the combined force has conducted precision strikes on multiple key locations. Notably, the 7th Artesh Air Force Tactical Airbase in Shiraz, Fars Province, was likely hit, along with the IRGC Ground Forces Ansar ol Hossein Provincial Unit in Hamedan City. Additionally, an IRGC headquarters near Bonab, East Azerbaijan Province, was struck by the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF).
Satellite imagery from March 15 reveals significant damage to Iranian naval and air infrastructure at the IRGC 4th Sarallah Naval District in Bushehr Province. This district plays a crucial role in controlling the central Persian Gulf, including the strategic South Pars gas field.
Iran's Retaliatory Strikes in Response
In a swift countermove, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) announced the execution of wave 83 of Operation True Promise 4 in the early hours of Friday. This retaliatory operation targeted key American and Israeli military installations across the region using missiles and drones.
According to an IRGC statement, the strikes focused on:
- Storage tanks and the oil depot in Ashdod
- A military personnel site in the Modi'in settlement
- A US military information exchange centre
- American bases at Al-Dhafra and Al-Udeiri
- Maintenance and storage hangars at Ali Al-Salem Air Base
- Fuel tanks for American jets and fighter aircraft
- The Patriot missile system maintenance hangar at Sheikh Isa Base
Key Developments and Casualties
On March 25 and 26, the combined force conducted strikes marking the north-eastern-most operations in the conflict so far. In a significant blow, the IDF announced on Friday that it killed Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy Commander Rear Admiral Alireza Tangsiri in Bandar Abbas.
This escalation occurs even as US President Trump indicated a temporary thaw, extending a pause on strikes targeting Iran's energy infrastructure from seven to ten days, until April 6. However, the ongoing military actions suggest that tensions remain high, with both sides continuing to engage in aggressive maneuvers.
