The incident took place when their motorcycle was struck by a speeding sand-laden tractor near the toll plaza at Hoor village on the Garhwa-Daltonganj stretch of National Highway 39, under the Garhwa police station limits.

The deceased have been identified as Uday Pal, aged 25, and Ankaj Pal, aged 22. According to police reports, Uday Pal was en route to Vishakhapatnam for employment purposes, while Ankaj Pal was accompanying him to drop him off at the Garhwa Road junction in Palamu district, from where Uday was scheduled to board a train for his journey. A police official confirmed that Uday Pal succumbed to his injuries at the accident site, whereas Ankaj Pal died while being transported to the hospital for medical treatment.
